Making Mom’s Life Easier

I love my mom and more than that I suspect that I like cooking. My mother is a wonderful cook. No guest ever leaves our home without a plate of food and they almost always rave about the quality of her cooking. Her secret lies in using the freshest spices that she grinds herself right before cooking. She still swears by her old mortar and pestle, though now it hurts me to see her spend hours in the kitchen labouring over the stone in her advanced age. Deciding that things simply must not continue as they are, I decided to be the best child and gift her a mixer grinder this Mother’s Day.

As I headed online to buy a mixer grinder, I found many that would have suited me but the Morphy Richards mixer grinder caught my eye because of its sleek stylishness, my mom has a keen sense of style and this mixer would fit right into her kitchen. Just a few clicks and I was set to surprise my mom with what I hoped would be the best Mother’s Say gift ever! Gifting her the mixer grinder would also ensure she could have her favourite cold coffee right at home without trekking to her favourite cold coffee shop across town. Another added advantage would be that she could keep herself healthy by drinking milkshakes to increase her calcium, a must for a woman her age.

The wait ended and the mixer grinder arrived. Mom was initially shocked at the idea of with what she thought was an unnecessary expense, but when I sat her down and explained that the mixer was not only affordable but also a necessity, she agreed to give it a go. No sight can be more beautiful than that of my mother smiling at the sight of perfectly ground cumin made in her brand new Morphy Richards mixer grinder that she made in just a few minutes as compared to half an hour earlier.

Now my mother and the mixer are best friends. She quickly learned how to use it and frequently surprises me with her creations, like a mouthwateringly good pesto that she made from scratch! Her calcium levels have also gone up as now I make her drink delicious smoothies, lassi and milkshake. And I cannot even begin to describe the smooth and silky textures of the gravies that she is making! And the meatballs? I don’t even have words!

Contrary to her initial apprehension about the mixer grinder spoiling the taste of her cooking, I think my mother’s cooking tastes even better now that it isn’t flavoured by her backbreaking hard-work in the kitchen. In fact, I even overheard her telling her sister about the wonders of her new mixer grinder and advising her to buy it too! As you can well understand, my chest swelled with pride and joy at my mom’s happiness. I think i will teach her how to use a microwave oven next. That should be fun!

The Efficient Appliances!

Sitting in the balcony, on a nice Sunday afternoon I laze about the thought of cooking. First, think about what to make, next make the preparations about the same and finally get down to cooking it. I go lazy about the thought, slip in my chair again and go back to looking in to the open field.  I am hungry now and the only option for me is Maggi! How much I miss home and good food. Living in a town all by myself, made me realised of all the ease and pampering I experienced at home. How much I took it for granted.

I gave a thought about it and decided to redo the kitchen because I needed some healthy stuff to survive on. I was struck with the idea to buy kitchen appliances which help reduce the work load and even give me time to try out new things! I have decided on the following and cooking has been so much fun after it! Here is a suggestion list to all the people who live alone or want to reduce the labour work of their home cooks!

What Would We Do Without It : A Thanks To Kitchen Appliances

This century is a completely technology driven. Our home appliances have shifted from coal to electricity. We never realise, how much technology we are surrounded with, in the kitchen itself. Be it toasters, ovens, gas stoves and not to miss the kettle! Everything is innovated by the mega brains.

The most interesting is the electric kettle. That coil technology is really amazing! I bought one and tea has never been so easy to make! Get steaming hot boiling tea, and the add on is that I can carry it around. The boiler has a heating pad and no chord attached. So I just make it once and it remains warm for a long time. These magical boilers are a boon, especially for offices and hotels. Even for the bachelors who are in a constant need of coffee or tea. Otherwise too, Indians simply love tea so this product is go-get! Further, they are economically priced so that everyone can have the easy trick! Low on electricity usage and the automation feature is wonderful. It turns off when it the water level is quite low. Such visage and such low prices, you ought to have it! It isn’t difficult to find the best electric kettle but just make sure that you have the latest one.

Another thing that amazes me in the kitchen is the mixer grinder. My mother uses it every day. I sometimes imagine what the homemakers would do without these stirs! I bought the mixer grinder online from Bajaj and I guess it’s the best in the market. It has an auxiliary feature that is the juicer. So, we get to have freshly made juice daily. Being an Indian family we love spices, hence the chutneys, masalas are easily made with that roller stir. The brainy thought of making sizes in it too, considering what all it can be used for! Imagine having no milkshakes or cold coffees, that’s how important it is! The blender is handy and reasonably priced. It has made the cook free from all the grinding. Even in the rural regions the stone grinders has been replaced with these low on electricity shaker! It doesn’t consume a lot of electricity in fact saves a lot of time, for sure. The speed controlling feature is just amazing. For hard items it comes handy like coconut, almonds and walnuts. Also because of this boon, simply fantastic!

We don’t appreciate all this much but seriously if all of this vanishes, we will go a century back! Even the ironing machine, the microwave; all are blessing in disguise, especially for the homemakers. These innovations shouldn’t stop and keep easing out the chores because there is already a lot work for the Indian women. No generalizing, even men cook; but in majority of homes it’s the women. So for all the working women who constantly work either at office or homes; these things help her take of time and relax. That is how technology should for a better living so that we save time for ourselves. Hats off to such appliances!
